While Obsidian had previously said Grounded would incorporate strong story and RPG elements alongside the survival aspect, and while you can see hints of that, there’s not much to speak of yet. But what’s here so far is entertaining enough and, despite a few stumbles, clearly has a lot of room to grow. Having recently launched into Early Access on Steam and Xbox Game Preview (plus Game Pass), it’s currently much more of what you’d traditionally expect from the latter than it is influenced by the former. When we first saw Grounded less than a year ago, the pitch was to adapt Obsidian’s signature RPG style into the survival genre. I hope they reduce the price down a bit as I didn’t even bother to unlock ladders for example because it was priced at 3500 RS, the daily quest pays between 100-500 and take quite some time to do. You can acquire them through playing the game, exploration or doing daily quest but it is quite the grind for it and learning new recipes and blueprints are quite expensive for a few.
Only con so far that I can think of is there is in-game currency called raw science. Dodging is not as active as you can outrun most enemies or at least weave through terrain or use vertical movement to your advantage. Force of Nature 2: Ghost KeeperĬombat is fairly tight and timing is important for blocking. If they have a diverse range of armors, there is potential for a lot of different builds. Armor sets have stat bonuses so mixing and matching might not be the best but some individual pieces also have innate bonuses as well. There’s a lot of potential here from what I can see with the early access. You’re mostly building similar the shapes of Fortnite but with a more whimsical Lilliput style construction. The crafting is quite extensive for structures with some miner hiccups here and there. GameplayĪs you explore, discover many landmarks and biomes along with the dangers, wonders and new materials that come with it.
You wake up from a suitcase with 5 perfectly human sized cut outs with some form of breathing apparatus but there’s only 4 of you currently (you and 3 other coop players) shoved underground.
